"This thesis proposes that the underrepresentation of elders, minority groups and people with an average, or less than average, physique unintentionally inflicts an illicit mindset that the individuals who form these demographics have less value in our society." This statement can be true across many media platforms - print, magazines, movies and games. You should be able to find lots of research material that supports your thesis. Having said that, I suggest you zero in tightly on a very specific point.

There have been several "related" Theses on related topics here at SCAD in the last decade - see Lucas Slominski (beauty stereotypes in gaming - see SCAD library and http://lucas.slominski.net/thesis.php) and Brad Madison (minorities in gaming - see SCAD library and http://bjmthesis.blogspot.com/2011/02/long-journey-backcontinued.html). You state “elders, minority groups and people with an average, or less than average, physique" -- The Slominski Thesis addresses beauty or "people with an average, or less than average, physique" and the Madison thesis addresses minorities, especially black males. So you can see your statement is rather broad compared to theirs. Perhaps your focus will be "inflicts an illicit mindset that the individuals" but with who? The diverse demographics you list may be too broad.

"...that better represents the individuals that make up our culture..." This Statement has some power. But how would a game (or other media) benefit (or suffer) from a better representation the individuals that make up our culture? This is very interesting.

I mention the Uncanny Valley in Sarah's response. This is very applicable to your thesis as well. Research and become familiar with this topic deeply.

So in conclusion, I think you are on a good track but I think you need to find the gold nugget in all you are proposing and focus on it.
